Summertime is always quiet. But we started again with a political party promo (.!.) and some commercials. Smusic Studio is now the proud owner of a guitar similar as Elvis plays here. A Blueridge Gibson J-200 clone. A great sounding and looking guitar. Next to the Martin D-28 this is a valuable addition for the Smusic sound. No news is good news! Worked a lot. No complaints from this side. Here one of our last tunes for Jillz, with Yvo Sprey from Supercity on vocals. We were nominated for the Buma Music in Motion Awards with our Reebok commercial. Now there seem to be a lot of awards to win lately but it is nice anyway. Recorded some new tracks with Man & Prince Going to record some songs of mine with Steffen. - Smart GraFX started selling the new ButtonMaker version. Check it out here -

Steadily working on.......We made a string of new tracks. Gonna put a few new movies on the site soon. In the meantime listen to the Bonus Track. Steffen doing a cover version of Free, a Stevie Wonder composition in an arrangement of ours. We made a just a bit different version (Shake It Rewind) of our Reebok tune, for a new campaign. The single version of Shake It is now available on I-Tunes (search for Shake it the Easytone song) and it will definitely appear on the new cd of Steffen Morisson to be released in beginning next year. Note: I couldn't link to the You Tube movie of Shake It Rewind because of violations of the authors rights...!!......I am the f*n author. What a wonderfull world it is! Composed music for TV documentary "Dus ik ben", about philosophy for Dutch TV "Human". From the instruments front: The Smusic Studio is now the proud owner of a Fender Rhodes Mark1 electric piano! This is also fun. The CD of Man&Prins, recorded in the Smusic Studio is available now. One of the tracks has lyrics of artist and writer Jan Cremer. He designed the cover for the cd. - Smart GraFX is finishing a new version of the ButtonMaker , a button design application that will be for sale in January.

Summertime is the off-season, so not much was happening. We did make the single version of the Reebok commercial though. It will be available on I-Tunes and on the new CD of the lead singer Steffen Morrisson. Scored 2 commercials for Vodafone Germany. (listen here).One in cooperation with M.Marsman of Sizzer and arranged by W.Stuhlmacher with great drumming by Joost Kroon (of the Cool Collective & Kane) Made a so-called 'Kwela' tune for Total with mr Palm on the flute. No news on the Reebok single front. An Ibanez acoustic 12 string is added to the guitar family. Working on a new site were Mickey and I will present ourselves as Smid & Smid, composers for Multi Media.

This months winner is the Reebok Easytone tune. (listen here). There is quite a stir about this tune, got a lot of requests so we are gonna check out it's hit potential by making a single version. Finished music for puppet theater: 'de Hik van Rembrand'. Recording some tunes with guitarist extra-ordinaire Paul Pleijsier.

First of all, a happy new year! We are doing well here. We have a lot of work. We work for a new company Sizzer doing commercials and established a good relationship in a a short time. Latest winner: Bosch Roxx for the German marked. In the middle of the production for the puppet theater play "De hik van Rembrand" (Hickup of Rembrand), the new production of Max Verstappen, to be in the theaters in March. - Smart GraFX finished the site for Suzanne Felderhof's Ennegram as well as her regular site. After years of being very happy with my Fender Precision (and I still am) I couldn't resist this Epiphone Rivola bass. From 1968. She is a real beauty and sounds great. This is the bass many british 'beat' bands from the sixties played on. We did more commercial tunes, yes with christmas bells and all. Going to work on music for a new (puppet) theater show for Max Verstappen. I love making music for children. -Smart GraFX is working on a new site-

Season started again and we're back on track making commercials tunes. Finally made a new library music CD called "Acoustic tunes for children and grownups". soon more info. Made a score for another corporate movie. Micky recorded the band Supercity, making music for a documentary and the band the Souldiers, making tracks for feature movie.

Holiday time is here and biznis is slow. Did some more commercials before I went away myself. Did a score for a corperate movie. Saw a legendary concert in Paradiso of Brian Wilson and his fantastic new band. It was very very good. Brought me to tears. Got a Epiphone Mandobird, an electric mandolin with the shape of a Gibson Firebird for my birthday. Bought a Guitd B-50 acoustic bass guitar. A beautiful instrument. -Updated the Smart GraFX site. Well, here it is. The new Smusic Studio site. It was time for a change! Was on a short holiday. Made a few more commercials. Gonna do some more songs with Man en Prins. Made a score for a corporate movie with Niels Meyer. Did some gigs as bass-player in the band Super City. We bought a Vintagedesign M73D pre-amp. Smart GraFX is making 2 sites.

Made intro tunes for "Ster & Cultuur" for the Dutch public broadcast. Still working on the Man&Prins tracks. Check them out on Myspace Did some more music for Max Verstappen. Commercials tunes is still the main thing. We are getting a lot of work. A few now showing in the States and Germany. Did a small gig with the Dutch Rare Groove Band. Here a picture of our performance in the Milky Way a while back.

We are now the proud owner of a Telefunken/Siemens V72 pre amp. A tube pre from the sixties. Smart GraFX is finally finished with the all the Button Makers. I have got several requests from other companies. There is gonna be a new Smusic site pretty soon.

Happy New Year. Recordings with duo Man&Prins, a poet and a guitar player doing weird stuff. It's gonna be finished later in March. More commercials! (it's getting boring.......) But I love doing it. Making tunes of 30 to 60 seconds is so much easier than writing a song or a score for a movie. Smart GraFX is almost finished with the BadgeDesigner for Badgematic. Did a few more commercials. The reason why you hardly ever see the results here is because we work mostly for a company that by contract forbid the composers to put the tunes on their showreel to make sure that clients will not contact the composers directly. Had a great night in the Milkey Way with the Dutch Rare Groove Band. It went very well and was lots of fun.

Finished the songs for Max Verstappen. And a few commercials. Big investments in the studio. New monitors: Focal Twin6 Be. Realy good!! Bought a Chandler Germanium compressor. Amazing stuff. Also a UAD PCe card with fantastic plug-ins for Cubase. Furthermore another studio make over. Been soldering for days but it will pay off. We will be able to work much more efficiently now. And the first preparations for another Dutch Rare Groove gig in the Milky Way on 23 december. There is a new CD 'Dutch Rare Groove 2'. It promises to be a nice veteran funk evening. Mixed the songs of Paul Stephenson. Recorded and mixed three songs with Arthur Ebeling for his new CD. A good commercial tune with Mickey. Miq recorded Babek's jazzband one more time. Making tunes for a new show by puppeteer Max Verstappen! For kids 3 to 5. That's fun. -Lots of work for Smart GraFX!

I have neglected the news terribly. Due to the fact that I am trying to renew my site but somehow I'm never satisfied with it so it goes on and on..... So here's some new news! March and April were filled with making commercials. Soon I will put up some tunes for listening. Did 2 gigs with the Dutch Rare Groove Band. Both very enjoyable and groovy thought rather chaotic because we dont rehearse enough. Finished the score for a animation movie: Sweet Revenge. Mickey recorded several bands in the studio ao The Souldiers. Went on short holydays. Had the wurlitzer completely updated. It's in perfect condition now! The Clavinet is being done now too! Made 2 websites: For photographer Petra Spiljard www.petraspiljard.nl and one for storyteller Anne van Delft, not in the air yet. Recorded a few songs with old friend Paul Stephenson.

Happy new year! Babeck recorded 8 tunes with his Iranean/Argentine/Dutch jazzband. Did a whole string of commercials with Mickey, some now to hear on Dutch TV. In the meantime still working on Smusic sound. Inspired by Miq who bought a Teac 2340, the first home 4-track recorder, in fact the first real home tape recorder I ever bought....., we think of buying a 16 track Tascam so we will be able to record a whole band analog. (to be continued) Some new SmartGraFX work is coming up too.

Picture that comes with an interview with me in Dutch pop magazine 'Fret'. Hey....about GodFathers of Dutch popmusic. I'm honoured. It's about long ago and funky music long ago! Lots of beside the music activities: Bizzy making websites: a.o. a new version of janhontscharenko.nl and a new site barbaramulderink.nl, grafic designer. Helped out PeggyB with making movies for the decorum of a theater show that was showed in Brussels. This involved making crazy things in Flash that were converted to film wich workes great. Did several tunes for commercials with Miq. Made a tune for Japanees IKI beer. Bought a Lavry AD-10, analog-digital converter to enhance the Smusic sound even more. There is gonna be a recording session of an Iranean/Dutch jazzband in december.

Bought new speakers: Adam P11a. Go to Adam site The old Events needed some support. The idea is to have a better sound with new mixer and new speakers so mixes will be (even) better. Recorded 2 songs with Joan aka Sleepy Joe Tomato. Listen to Sleepy Joe here! First session with new mixer and everything went well and sounded nice.

Finished the CD for publisher Prometheus with stories read by Katja S. Bizzy re-arranging the studio around the new analogue Toft mixing desk. Althought I worked for years and years like this it's 10 years ago I started working with a digital desk so it takes some time to get used to it again. June was holiday time.... Smusic Studio is standing on the verge of big changes. I bought a new analogue mixing desk. The Toft ATB 16. Designed by Malcolm Toft, the man behind the Trident mixers, now in his seventies(!?) Unfortunatly I'll have to wait till the end of the month to get it. Check out the Toft ATB here! Mickey (Son of Smusic) is starting his own studio almost next to me! We gonna have some competition here! Check out his new website here! Recorded and mixed some demo songs with master guitar player Arthur Ebeling. Mixed the tunes with Zilverberg, the new group of Manfred Wijker.

A read/recording session with Dutch famous TV and moviestar K.S. for a cd with old arabic erotic stories translated by Hafid Bouazza. Recording of a new band by Manfred Wijcker with Arthur Ebeling on guitar and lovely Anke vocals. Making a user management system around the Button Maker, a Flash application I made for buttonboss.com. Making a video clip for a single by Harry Niehof of his new CD on wich I played the bass. Working on a tune for a new-to-be television serie. It's an exiting idea to be part of a process from nothing to hopefully a broadcasting success! Together with director Camiel Schouwenaar en puppeteer Max Verstappen. It's all about a band (puppets) and all the adventures around them, but they will play a song in every episode. We are gonna make a pilot! First song is the 'blahblah' song. Soon to be heard here! Next month there will be a headline article about me in AV Magazine as being a multi media man! and the fact that there is music from Smusic in the SpongeBob Series. A lot of time goes into a new assignment to make Flash applications for RTL Interactive! Got the latest Cubase version 4. It's amazing what you can do. Allan Toussaint was wonderfull. Just a man and the grand piano! Great!!

Life can be good to u sometimes. A better way of rehearsing? Maybe the Smusic Studio moves to Spain? A picture with nothern singer Harry Niehof. Recorded master guitarist Paul Pleijsier for a cd produced by Jakob Klaasse. Did a voice over and some music for Milk Design. Sent a press report to all av magazines about the use of Music from Smusic in the Spongebob series. Made a new showreel Music from Smusic in a Nutshell. Furthermore the weather is too good and it's holiday-time. Off to Spain.

Music from Smusic is being used in the very succesfull american children series SpongeBob Squarepants. It is, believe it or not a Hawaiian lap steel tune I made a long time ago. Finished our mini-tour with the Dutch Rare Groove Band. It was a great succes and a whole lot of fun. Everybody in the band longed fore more gigs. I loved doing my old thing: playing the funky bass guitar.

On 29 of april the Concertzender broadcasted the whole CD 'Stervende Liefde' of Jan H. and me plus some of our earliear works. I added 5 tracks to the site. Very bizzy organizing en rehearsing with the Dutch Rare Groove Band. First gig is 5th of May. Gonna do another gig with Hans Zilver in the Rijksmuseum. A place where one does not perform very often. Did more voice over recordings. Started working on a new website for graphical designer Barbara Mulderink.

From on the end of march I'll be working on the new 'Villa Neuzenroode' children series for TV station Nickelodion. 10 episodes of 13 minutes. Almost finished with 'Stervende Liefde'. Happy New Year! The childrens series "Villa Neuzenroode" is gonna have 13 new episodes this year. They want me to do the music score again. This is good news. Started a new project with Jan Hontscharenko called "Stervende Liefde". ("Fading Love") A collection of verses/poems with music. There are 13 songs now. Never longer than two and a half minutes. It's gonna be suprising. Bizzy working on a new site for Instituut de Leeuw in Amsterdam. Talks about a small tour of the Dutch Rare Groove band in May. Voice overs session for promotion film for a new and great machine to make your teeth better. Did some voice overs myself for the Oscar & Amber site. You can find my game here too.
